There are two main types of 11 Plus exam:

 

• GL assessment is used by a number of schools, including Altrincham Grammar School, Stretford Grammar School, Sale Grammar School, Urmston Grammar School and Bolton School. Pupils are tested on English, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and mathematics.

 

• Independent schools and some state schools set their own tests. Most will test pupils on comprehension, writing and mathematics. Some will also have verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning sections.
